Beautifull Boulle Wall Clock on a bracket. This Boulle is also known as a Contra Parti or Counter Boulle (more brass, less tortoiseshell). Named after Andre Charles Boulle, who followed in his fathers footsteps and became a cabinet maker. In 1672 he was appointed court artist and took up residence in the Louvre, the Royal Palace in Paris. He was the first artist allowed more than one artistic discipline because he needed more than one to complete his works or art. His workshop was famous for producing furniture with flower design sophisticately executed in marquetry (inlay) with wood, metal, natural shell and tusk.
