Description

This is probably the most attractive and unusual of the French Portico Clocks. Both the design and quality of mounts indicate an outstanding clock. Constructed entirely of ebony and fire or mercury gilded ormolu. What makes it exceptional is the mystery element of the clock and that the motion is driven by the clock movement encased within the pendulum bob and there fore the pendulum is being driven from the bottom of the pendulum rather than the top as is usual. Grid iron pendulum on knife edge.
