Very large and rare Boulle bracket clock with matching wall bracket. Beautifull red tortoiseshell and brass in nice condition. The technique of brass inlay into tortoiseshell or vice versa is credited to the French Maitre eboniste Andre Charles Boulle in the 17th C.

A mid 18th Century French Roccoco counterparti and inlayed coloured horn boulle bracket clock on original bracket by Straubhar a Strasbourg. The tortoiseshell and cut brass case elaborately decorated with coloured horn (red, yellow and green) and mother of pearl in the form of flowers with brown tortoiseshell foliage case. 14-day silksuspended movement with anchor escapement with outside countwheel, striking on a bell with matching wall bracket. 110 cm x 43 cm x 20 cm.

Very rare three piece Boulle set with candelabra's. Named after Andre Charles Boulle who followed in his fathers footsteps and became a cabinetmaker. In 1672 he was appointed court artist and took up residence in the Louvre, the Royal Palace in Paris. He was the first artist allowed more than one artistique discipline because he needed more than one to complete his works of art. His workshop was famous for producing furniture with flower design sophisticately executed in marquetry (inlay) with wood, metal, natural shell and tusk.
